Viennese buns – Videnski bulochky

It’s an excellent place to recharge on coffee and have some pastries. More serious lunch fare is available in the room on the left, sweets and freshly baked bread are attractively displayed to your right as you enter. Burkifli is their hit for my brother. I often order palmier – it’s perfectly dry. Croissants and pies look always good, double check if they were made today if you pop in there too early. In the mornings locals and office workers have there quick breakfasts. At midday – girlfriends get together for chat. In the evenings – cute couples take over quiet corner tables. Do not go there during weekend in the afternoon – it’s chaos there, Sat-Sun mornings are awesomely quiet though, with locals in sweats and still sleepy, sipping their tea and reading papers. During the summer the bakery took over the sidewalk with two big umbrellas and comfy straw chairs.

One little enjoyment of the town is its good coffee. Being sleep deprived, I drink a lot of it! It must be the European water or sth, but Ukrainian coffee tastes so much more like the Italian! (if you prepare it the Italian way and with the same quality beans, of course). All the heaps of coffee shops in Kyiv town center never serve carry-out (Starbucks did not reach here yet!), just offer sit down, slow coffee in all shapes and forms. It is always done with lots of panache and some quirkiness. A separate article should appear here on Kaffa. They call themselves the theater of coffee and try to elaborately cover the whole world of coffee in their menu.

Its on Prorizna and Pushkinskaya- 3/5 on Pushkinskaya, I think. Also, discovered they have another location on Institutskaya st. right across from the Central bank, 5 min/ from Maidan. No outside seating, though same tasty treats.
