Arena City Entertainment
Last night my husband turned “..” and we decided to pop into a bar to celebrate. It was Monday night but the scene at Arena bar was very happening. Expats hanged by the bar, tired executives in suits, pimp-looking Ukrainians lounged in booths. Girls in pairs (one pretty girl and another - wing woman) - occupied booths, sipped chardonnay, talked on cell phones, smoked hookah and waited on Mr. Pinchuk to drop by.
Otherwise it’s a very typical “new Ukrainian” place, fully equipped with sushi bar, exposed stainless steel kitchen, mini brewery, and sports on tv. The bar was on the ground floor, the lift in the hall lead into a restaurant on the second, casino on the third, and night club on the fourth, what else? In short, a perfect place for a restless oligarch to meet his needs all-in-one. Fabulous!

Dear olechko. Arena Bar is probably my favourite place to go. On the ground floor of course (not the sports, and I’m so not glamorous enough for the nightclub). It’s quite understated and comfortable to relax in, I think, and the Pilsner that they used to brew there was nice. The first night I went there, they had turned down fashion TV and were playing Norah Jones and Bob Dylan, and then a live band started. It was nice.

What nights do they have the live band playing? I saw the rum set in the corner there. Also, I forgot to mention, we met a pleasant guy named Partik. This is great find for us, since we lead a very hermit-like life - both work from our house and meet very little people.

Bonjour Ohla!
I wish I had knew your blog in the past…Never too late. It is very interesting to read you!
I went to the Arena club many times to eat pizzas with some friends. The music is just a little bit too loud for my ears… but the pizzas are good!!

Dear olechko. I think we were there on a Friday night when they played the music - it was rather early, say around 8pm? I might check with Mr Moi… Perhaps we should meet up there sometime for a beer? Might help you be a little less hermit like, if you like :o)

Dear olechko. Cool - saturday suits best for us. But if you have bubba we can go somewhere other than a smoky bar if you like. Email me through my blogger profile and we can organise a time and place
Will be fun!
