Season opened: walking ads on the streets

Sometime during the winter I wrote about the March of Santas. Now the season of walking advertisements re-opens with even more colorful and attention grabbing outfits and performances I captured here on Podil yesterday. One thing missing – behind this excitement it’s really hard to figure out what the hell they advertise. It’s almost like the marketers make it a forbidden fruit and make us chase down the characters to ask the question. Aha, right, I am here just for the free entertainment!

Yes the marketers do tend to have us stumped on occasion. When friends come into the country and they see these parades on blades or some other BTL attempts they often ask me, “Does anyone ever go for this stuff?” Apparently they do, or there would be such a repeat rate of some of these characters disturbing us on our weekends as we stroll along Khreschatyk.

    Hi, Vasyl.
Apparently the repeat rate of these ads is explained by the dirt-cheap cost of these walking characters. Now to your weekend delight, the cast has grown with the red-blue-and-pink protesting crowd on Maidan. The rumor goes, their rate is 50 hrv per day.
