Pid Klepsydoyu

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

Dzyga in Lviv, Pid Klepsydoyu restaurant The old Dzyga art center in Lviv refurbished and opened it’s indoor restaurnat Pid Klepsydou on Virmenska st. this season. Love the newspaper-like menu, napkin holders made of picture frame cut-offs, authentic vaulted ceilings. The second floor space is particularly nice. And you can go check out the gallery too while waiting for your order. I heard a lot of praise about gtheir chicken intestents soup, xoxo. And, don’t get the mulled wine - they put way too much mint in there.

Merry Christmas

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

Greetings from Lviv - we are celebrating the catholic Christmas here this year. The local Green Sofa gallery set the perfect mood for this with great selection of local greats:

Olha Pylnyk’s ceramic Christmas tree / candle holder:

Planok castle and Lavra

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

recently finished painting these two architectural landmarks:

Palanok castle, Mukacheve, oil painting by Olha Pryymak

2007, oil on canvas 50×30 cm. 18x 24 cm. Please send your bid by email if you want to purchase this painting.
I visited it on tour of Zakarpattya last winter. It’s an unforgettable place : the Carpathians are behind you, and this castle rises up above the plains on a man-made hill. Three castles one inside another really when you start exploring it… And the sweet wine that locals produce there is something else.

Petro Sobko - artist profile

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

When in Lutsk last week, I saw this exhibit by Petro Sobko at our only art gallery in town. The guy has like 60 years of painting experience and makes amazing portraits (he offered me to sit for one, xixi). His most interesting work dates back to the 60s when we produced these huge Soviet propaganda canvases of milkmaids, trumpeters and construction workers. I got his number and his studio address if any of you would be curious to see this in person.

Portfolio presentation

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

With the help of the wonderful Pleso.net, I revamped the artwork presentation. In the left hand corner under Pages you can view my graphics (pencil or ink drawings) or paintings split into the two categories.  Let me know if you like it. Now you merely need to type in http://olechko.org/ to get here ( no more /blog extension).  The pages look something like this:

Vlada Ralko - artrist profile

Vlada Ralko, ukranian artist

Vlada Ralko, Pink Fortified

I saw one of her works a while ago, and now she has a solo exhibit going on at the Ya Gallery.

You can tell the artistic search for personal style in the span of seven years in these three paintings by Vlada . The last picture (from current show) is alreay way over my head in angst and symbolism, but I really enjoy to watch her progress.
