This is a sketch from the painting by Vermeer or so they think it is. It was one of my favorite paintings to visit at the National gallery in Washington DC.
While copying another piece of art by Vermeer on onlooker recommnded me to check out the art of John Piper. HIs artchitectural paitnigs are really great.

lovely piece. i just like the balance of your colors there, between the shades of blue of the jacket, and the background. what’s more, you captured a great expression on her face. the almost startled look, as if she just turned to see what’s up.
