Cracking night out at the Hackney Empire
Saturday night I was lucky to go to a comedy/cabaret at the Hackney Empire in the East End. The theater used to be a music hall, holding performances by Charlie Chaplin and the likes. While there, I saw this couple at the intermission (fetching a drink and some sushi at the bar inside the theater, how convenient!) and loved the impressionistic light falling on them from above.

The theatre: it takes them away
A new life, no regrets about what they say
Intermission, time for a drink
Time not to think
Time to talk and pose and be seen
It’s fun, another world, a dream
Swept away in the theatre flow
The crowd meets for no other reason
Than wanting to see the show
