Hermes Blues

Reading Jeremy Paxman’s ‘The Victorians’ currently, and contemplating on his thesis “Why Victorian artists are now mostly forgotten?”. His answer is that most of their art was social commentary that made viewers uneasy or moralized. Come to think of all the chase for the shock value of contemporaries; just look at what Rossi and Rossi puts out currently: I love the Turkish plates with Islamic stereotype images (via Martin Newman’s post in the Mirror), but how lasting is their effect?  I hope people would enjoy my work because they plainly like to be around it, co-exist together in peace of their living room (sweet dreams!).
