Dray Walk lunch crowd

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

There is always a lot of action on Dray walk thanks to  several cafes, boutiques, galleries and the superb Rough Trade record shop. To top it all, the sun lit it all so well, I could not pass it by today.

Leila’s grocery on Calvert ave.

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

This is a hat tip to my favourite grocers in the neighbourhood – the lovely Leila’s shop and cafe on Calvert ave. in Shoreditch.

Drinks on Redchurch st. Thursday night

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Saw these guys on my way home from a late night show – joyfully making their way to Shoreditch for some night-time fun. The steady flow of City folk for some good times to my current neighborhood makes for some real people watching fun.

Somerset House colonnade, 50×70 cm

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Just finished a large painting of the fabulous Somerset House archway entrance. I did a small one of it before and totally fell in love with the image. It’s currently on show with  Real Hampstead exhibit in West London.

Entering the Borough Market

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Last night had a great opening at  Real  Hampstead. St. Stephen’s – the venue – is truly amazing. It runs until Tuesday if you’d like to stop by (St. Stephen’s, Rosslyn Hill, NW3 2PP) . The nice gentleman, who interviewed us artists at the show, confessed he was a foodie, so this helped me focus back on the Borough market today.  This is a small tunnel entry  into the market from Borough High st. on a wet and cold day. It ’s packed with people with cups of coffee in hand, shrugging off the morning chill.

Sommerset House colonnade II

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Getting ready for a show at Hampstead, six of my little paintings are scheduled to go up there  on July 22nd, including this one. This is a well-loved image of mine . The columns create a kind of a natural frame for the painting. In spite of loads of architectural detail, it also looks very minimal.

Kensington gardens

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

A completed commission for a client who used to live in London on this street. In spite of the unpredictability of these assignments, I usually have loads of fun with these and find something new and interesting for myself in the process.

Belgravia house

Monday, June 28th, 2010

This is a commission  for a couple who are moving away from London  and would like to take with them the memory of their lovely house in Belgravia.

Borough market, under the bridge

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

Another look at the market – through the rail bridge archway.

This is an oil on board painting, approximately 6×6 in (15×15 cm) large, shipped without a frame in a foam lined manilla envelope. Remember that colours may look slightly different in person, but usually for the better! Please add a week of drying time from the day of this post – the paint is still fresh!
