This is the third take on the traffic scene from Sevastopolsky bridge in Kyiv. My dad just visited here in London and when I called to see if he got home all right, first thing that came up: going though traffic in Kyiv took more time then the Kyiv-London flight! This bridge is one of the most notorious places known for it’s jams.

Kyiv art scene update: go visit Art-Kyiv at the Ukrainian house until  8th Nov. Over top 40 galleries represent their best goods on 5 floors of the former Lenin museum at the very top of Khrescahtyk.

This image came across for me on the Kyiv Lavra grounds, by the museum of jewelry there. The fountains are quite old and magnificent looking, and provide for a great meditation background, for pigeons and people alike. Besides the magnificent secular art.

Soul-warming traditional tea in a metal tea glass holder is a must when on the train. The designs on those pretty antique (from the 60s) glass holders are of some kind of trains and rail station reliefs. I suppose this is one of the first brands we got used to when growing up, the format of serving this tea was uniform all across USSR. Always lots of sugar was provided with it, sometimes lemon but never milk.

This is an interior of St. Volodymyr Cathedral in Kyiv. I liked the contrast between the view of the tourist - architecture appreciator (my dear friend Stephanie) and the babushka in the background who is fixing the candle stand.  The cathedral happens to have some of the most renowned frescoes in the country.

The orchard on the bee farm produces now steady crops of apples among other things. This year was not too rich, but enough to fill this nice basket.

This is an observation from my daily Kyiv life (from last winter, actually).  The lovely ladies of International Women’s Club of Kyiv (well, those who had babies obviously) met up sometimes at the Kaiser Cafe at the Premier Palace for a play session and a chat. I purposefully chose for the pucture overly bright colors to make it more “baby-friendly”.

This is an image from my friend’s wedding, when she was standing with her back to the girls and throwing the bouquet to them.  The lights and camera flashes made he whole scene a bit surreal.

Recently saw:

I have mentioned Lisa Hirst’s art before, he is one of the most outstanding daily painters in the blogsphere. Recently she has put out a triptych of her home interior that I could not pass on without mentioning.

While hanging around East London, finally popped in the Rochelle school - it’s a very cool exhibition, artists’ studio space  with a nice canteen, located right on Arnold Circus.

This is a last chocolate picture, at least for now. The box is now empty and I can’t look at chocolates any more.  The comfort food season just beginning and god knows how much of these we will devour through the winter.  But one can get almost at much pleasure from viewing the sweets on pictures as from eating them. Definitely much healthier this way. Enjoy !

I have not noticed this at first, but observe how the coat hangers’ antlers are growing out of the guy’s head. The leopard print coat of the girl and a sly look adds some drama as well.

Yey! Expanding back to the USA: Just learned that four of my little paintings are going to be exhibited at the Art Raw Projects in Chelsea, NYC February through March 09. More details to come.

I really missed my sguschenka in coffee. Papa teased me the other day with a can of it via Skype video and ended up in a picture. It’s a real shame sguschenka is hard to get in London (sure there must be some specialty shops). In the States it’s dulce de leche - a Mexican staple - sitting on every confectionary isle. No, but I still definitely miss Ukraine more then the States.
