The morning was dampened by the grim look of the commuters on the way to Old Street and then Kings Cross, push bike stuck in the tube door and coffee nearly spilled into a very nice purse of a bystander; but soon after arriving home I opened my inbox to find several awesome emails from people who read the Gentle Author’s post about my work in Spitalfields Life. I can not say enough how much I am proud to be on this blog, all the work that is done on it is definitely history in the making.

So thank you all so much for your messages, it really made my day. I very much appreciate your ideas of places and art to see that might inform my own painting in some ways, so please keep them coming. Sorry for dearth of work in my Etsy shop at the moment, please add me on Facebook, Twitter or RSS feed to get regular post updates or sign up for the newsletter (via the filed on the right) to get occasional email.

Of one of my favourite streets in East London, a little alley really, called the Dray Walk, that turns into a street party every night on weekends. The record shop is amazing, in addition the little cafe in it has the best coffee on this side of Brick Lane. Not to mention the amazing boutiques and sumptuous pizza at Story Deli.

Meanwhile I continue posting my tea and coffee cup watercolours on Etsy. I know its totally different from what I paint in oil, but I just can’t get it out of my system yet (saying this while sipping a cup of Napuk brew from Mariage Freres, yum!).

Under the new bridge over Brick Lane

Brick Lane was closed for traffic as long as I remember it, but a few weeks back the train bridge work (leading to Shoreditch tube stop) over it was completed and the space opened up. No more pedestrian and bikers jam on Sunday market days. But please someone tell me they’ll dome something to beautify the final result.

Another painting to my East London series. Loved the way the light fell on the people inside and the play between the flowers’ and light fixtures reds.

Learned yesterday about one of my paintings getting accepted to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition this year. Come see it 8 June-16 August at the RA Main galleries.
