DSH, 1685

I am back to the cozy interiors of the Dennis Severs House.  I think I really fancy an idea of a fireplace in my house… No contributions to Etsy today, most likely all my DSH paintings are going to come together in an exhibit sometime very soon.

DSH, Unmade bed

Monday, October 4th, 2010

The magic of the Dennis Severs’ House is still not letting me go. This bed in the great bedroom is evocatively messy, with a portrait of a lady on the door suggesting what might it’s occupant look like when she returns to the room in a second.

Dennis Severs’ House, Mozart

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

As you walk down stairs from the first to the ground floor of the house, this bust dominates the scene. Mick mentioned it could have been actually Mozart’s sister’s likeness. Speaking of Mick, here is a good interview with him.

You may have noticed I have not listed neither of the House paintings on Etsy. It’s because they are going to go up in a show later this year, later released as artists’ copies.

Dennis Severs’ House, drawing room chair

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

This is another chair in Edward Jervis’ smoking room.  I want to frame it with the previous one into a diptych once I find myself a good framer in the area.

Meanwhile this, and the rest of Dennis Severs’ House paintings will be on show at Real Broadgate next week.

Dennis Severs’ House, Edward Jervis drawing room

Friday, September 24th, 2010

Most spacious and light in my mind, room at the Dennis Severs’ House. Even though probably most opulent, it also has a great sense of balance and peace to it.

Dennis Severs’ House, Mick at the door

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

There is Mick, the man behind Dennis Severes’ House, he is pictured here seeing off the chimney sweepers, who put in order regularly  the many fireplaces of the House.  The light on dark olive coloured walls of the hallway was a pleasure to capture.

Dennis Severs’ House, Elizabeth Jervis in widowhood room, 1811

The light through the window felt very peaceful and soft.

Dennis Severs’ House, Great bedroom, 1780

This is the second floor bedroom of Elizabeth Jervis – the Dennis Severs’ House resident in 18c. She just stepped out, but her presence is felt there still.

This is a final image of the blue room that occupied me for the whole week, painting it and fantasizing.
