The series follows a story of Anoushka and Horatio meeting on the Heath on a sunny October day. The paintings in the series illustrate the emotional content of the encounter. A visual language of varied broad, painterly brushstrokes and contrasts of color carry out the narrative. The images are figurative and tiny, the size is designed to draw the viewer in, almost peering through a key hole. The viewer has a fleeting glimpse, barely more than an impression of who the two people are, not enough detail is given but the titles offer a faint impression of what is going on in the story.
The series are intended for the Affordable Art Fair with GoFigurative 27-30 October, Hampstead, London.

The People I know series have been going on nicely, I’ve gotten a good line-up of sitters but nowhere close to the ambitious 30 portraits goal (not one-a-day, no, not happening). So looking forward to hear from you if you’d like to sit for me.
In fact people are so much more consuming and entertaining to paint, my painting-a-day practice has moved into the background. That is, I still paint every day (you can see the proof that I am a busy bee on the right hand side column of my site through the Facebook, Flickr and Twitter feeds) but some changes are coming here to adjust to my current work rhythm. Stay tuned.

You see, I suffer miserably from seasonal allergies. In spite of living by the park, this year was the best for me so far thanks to my lovely homeopath Tracy, who did her magic on me with the treatments and kindly posed for this number 3 painting in the series.

I have not led the count before, but this is number 10 of my Skywatching paintings, ever since I looked up above. Which started on vacation. I suspect the idea would not have dawned at me if I stayed in London all summer. But since I’ve been back here there were a couple of beautiful clear days so I am counting them on.

My favorite place for a rewarding shot of macciato is at the Pavillion Cafe in Victoria Park. Nevermind it’s a construction site at the moment preceding the Olympics 2012, the pond and the foliage delights every time.

My brother said the other day: ” I never thought I am a foodie until I moved to London.” That’s all thanks to the abundant markets around town and all the wonderful food there is on offer there. This is a picture of my neighborhood one – the Broadway market. A side street off of it on the market day, when the coffee man brings his pop up coffee shop to the intersection of Broadway and Dericote St. on Saturdays.

In the past three days pianist James Rhodes has performed on this exquisite Steinway piano at the Riflemaker gallery. The instrument literally took up half of the space of the gallery’s ground floor. The rest was left to the revelers of the beautiful music. The lovely gallery director Tot Taylor also granted us a preview of the gallery’s offerings for the upcoming Frieze Art fair.

On the way to the West End. This is one of the least pleasant parts of the journey, looked paint – worthy yesterday for some reason, must have been the clear skies.

The glass and steel structures give a perfect opportunity to concentrate on the skies above.
