What music do you hear when you look at art?

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

When I look at art, I usually associate it with some piece of music, a song or a tune. If you do the same, can you share a tune that comes to your head when you look at these sunshine paintings?

Finished a large commissioned painting for a client. Pretty happy with its outcome, alas can’t take a proper picture of it in my darkish studio.

The State rooms

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Last week I was lucky enough to spend a few days in Vienna. Albertina gallery was the last on my list and about halfway through it I was ready to give up, after running through a couple of other major museums in the last two days. Only turning around the corner (the museum is quite a maze) I found these amazing rooms in opulent period decor, housing museum’s most precious drawings by Michelangelo and Durer, I got my second breath. The light coming in through the windows into this blue and gold room was just amazing.

Bakery and wine St. John Smithfield

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

My good friend Zach lives in San Francisco. When we met in Washington DC when he was working on the Hill and  me- as a financial statistician at the World Bank. He looked me up online recently,  found my Etsy shop and got several paintings off there. It felt terribly awkward getting back in touch with an old friend this way, particularly the one, who’s birthday I missed more then once, so I made a painting for him today. I know he’d prefer something sunny, but he can get plenty of that in SF , so here’s an image of St. Johns in Smithfield, with a few guys (chefs or patrons?) hanging out in anticipation of a good dinner.

There is a lovely tucked away courtyard in the middle of busy Covent Garden, it has a cafe in it and several shops, including Neal’s Yard remedies that carries my life saving allergy treatments.

Mine/Roma's toe socks, , 15x15 sm, oil on board, 2008

15×15 cm, oil on board, 2008, nfs

I was fascinated withBbabylegs product for a while, but realized the winter will be over by the time I get them ordered from the States so I went off improvising.  Roma ended up with a pair of my toe knee socks on, looking quite disheveled and terribly funny. I wonder what he’ll have to say about this number when he grows up, hm…

Everybody in expat community knowns of Inna Panteleymonova art

My current inspiration comes from Caro Niederer’s landscapes that she presents in the context of her living environment.

Oxana Mas is one hot selling pancake in the US art market, a creative young Ukrainian artist, some describe her art more as interior design, but it totally fits my “living with your art” concept.

And finally take a look at the new work by Jeremy Lipking.
