How to buy art on Etsy: money matters

Monday, March 7th, 2011

Unlike with most third parties, artists on Etsy do not go into any kind of commission deal with Etsy and are truly independent in what they put out. Even though artists are supposed to quote same prices be it on offer directly from artist or through a gallery of sorts, (you see, the Etsy artists do all the work photographing and listing their stuff online, packaging and getting it out to you that the gallery takes care in exchange for commission) you are still bound to get a better deal by shopping directly. It’s a win-win situation. Tomorrow I will write a bit about the best way to search Etsy for the art you want.

How to buy art on Etsy

Friday, March 4th, 2011

So you are very well noticed that under each painting I am now putting a price tag and a link to my Etsy shop where you can buy any particular artwork. And even if there is nothing better then direct personal experience with art, more an more people these days turn to the net looking to buy art. In a very democratic and confusing art world internet art market gets it’s profile higher and higher with the likes of Christie’s online auctions, Saatchi online, New Blood, etc.Internet has become yet another form of putting artists with the collectors, more direct then ever.

In the next several posts I will lay out my views on subject of buying art online. Hope this may be of help for some.

VITAMIN D(9): Arnold Circus

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

Our survival is no longer dependent on the agricultural cycles and good crops as a result of good weather,? and yet British seem to be so obsessed with the weather and talk about it constantly. Yes, the weather is so rarely pleasant in these parts, that when the sun does come out, Brits seem to know best how to take the best advantage of it.? As a result, people learned here to get the most pleasure out of the rate good days.

Here the yellows, the blues and the greens tumble down the open sky. The last rays of afternoon sun hit the top branches. Until another good sunny day, hopefully not too long away from now.

What paintings would you rather hang next to?

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

When on this spot, one usually turns the head the other way – where the magnificent St. Paul’s cathedral opens up to the view. Interesting how the buildings depend on the environment around them, it’s almost the uglier things around them – the likelier your building is to be noticed. When in company of another magnificent edifice, this little Wren church tends to get lost in my view. I think when displaying art on the wall, it’s the other way around, the nicer the paintings next to you, the better impression your own makes to the viewer. What do you think?

Opening for St. Paul’s

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Playing with the idea of how the old and new buildings in the City of London interact with each other. It is said that all new buildings are designed so they do not obstruct the views over the old landmarks. For some reason I reacted to that notion quite a bit and would like to learn more about the subject.

Fordham Gallery at Maddox Arts last night

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Went to the opening of a show hosted by Maddox Arts off Bond street. The show is curated by Man Somerlinck of Fordham Gallery. My favorites from the show were works by two Georgian artists Theo Mukhiguly (Theo M.) and Maya Naveriani. Will go back there again to take proper pictures, the gallery was way too crowded to get a close look at the art.

Today’s picture is another take on the Hackney road – sunshine and warmth. Painting it helped me abstract myself from the freezing hale storm outside.

One New Change, Cheapside

Sunday, February 27th, 2011
Overheard somewhere that all new City of London high rises are designed so that the existing architectural landmarks are not blocked out of the view. One New Change is one such place.

Vitamin D(7): Hackney road, next bus

Friday, February 25th, 2011

First really spring-like day today here. Have been enjoying the muddy park, hardly had the time to paint. Feel sorry for the guys in the morning rush to the office. At least some get their vitamin D through sun while waiting for the bus.

Vitamin D(6): Hackney road rider

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

Have not seen the sun here in over a week. Reminiscing on the beauty of even the ugliest streets lit with soft sunshine. See the biker riding off into the sunrise.
