People I know

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

While it’s hardly sunny to be looking up at the skies (for Skywatching) , and the grand interiors are cooking in the background, I am staring a new series today, preliminarily called “People I know”.  Let’s see where it takes me; I plan to paint one a day for the following 30 days.  If any of you good people would like to volunteer for a quick sketch for the daily painting, contact me.

Today’s first subject is Sasha, super smart and intelligent doctorate student at Southampton University and my little brother.

This week I will be back on the Dennis Severs’ House. All of my 2010 pictures of it, along with several new ones I am working on this week will be on show and available through 11 Spitalfields gallery on Princelet street this December  (it’s a stone throw’s away from the House).

On the bus to the East End

Friday, May 20th, 2011

This image really grabbed me, the blue dotted dress, the red curls and bright lipstick. On the way to a 50′s party I am sure, although I often enjoy the sight of many people here in East London dress impeccably well in the period style. My friend has been talking me into going to the proper 5o’s dance party for ages. But the idea of getting the right dress, hair and all seemed like too much of an effort. This image proves that it is all well worth it.

243 to Wood Green

Monday, February 7th, 2011

While in transit, lots of time on my hands to think about how ideally I would like to get around town… Love the top floor of doubledecker – for the scenery around, and the bike – for the speed (fastest mode of transport around London, according to time out).

Queen Victoria street by Mansion House

The wet streets of London after the major snowfall : not a bit of snow left on the ground, just the enormous reflection pool for street lights at dusk.

The rider in the blue study

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

This is a final image of the blue room that occupied me for the whole week, painting it and fantasizing.

The duke’s office

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

The colour combination of the walls and he furniture just blew me away here. Although, not sure what the duke thought of his study, but seeming myself in the mirror as I sat at my desk would be a bit uncomfortable.

A Mermaid bust

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Another addition to my imaginary library would be a beautiful bust of some composer, probably – Chaikovsky. They had one, fittingly, of a beautiful girl, at the Mermaid Inn.
