Corner of Fournier and Wilkies St.

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

Today’s subject is the beautiful Christ Church Spitalfields  and the handsomely restored houses on the streets around it are the subjects of today’s painting.

Broadway market, Sunday

Caught these girls chatting on the corner. The big letter D on the shop shutters behind the group is most likely done by the graffiti artist Ben Eine, see a Guardian feature about him here.

Broadway market, Saturday

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

My tribute to the beginning of spring, here in London. I caught this scene from the Broadway market down the street on a very warm sunny day.

Christ Church Spitalfields via Brushfield st.

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Back to the train of thought on architecture. In my lat architectural post I’ve painted its reflection onto the nearby buildings -one of the most important landmarks in Spitalfields – the Christ Church. In this picture it makes up for a great contrast with the renovated market. The planners ensured it is not obscured from the gaze of the passer-byes on Bishopsgate st., they even attempted to stylize the market to speak of the same things as the church; in its story about good days past still can’t avoid hearing its accent because of too much glass and steel impeding the speech.

Now that I’ve got the delivery of my blog posts by email, please add your email address to the box on the right if you’d like to receive them via email (about five per week).

Sunshine on Moorgate

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

As you may have noticed here, I am fascinated with the City and particularly with the folk working in it. Yesterday I took a ride to the Liverpool street for my favorite dim sum take out. It was so bright and clear, most office workers spilled outside around lunch time to take in the sunshine. Sidewalks were hard to navigate from the sheer number of sunbathers. I looked straight at the sun and the colors distorted to the point the human figures shimmered. I tried to represent it here.

Princess of Wales, Villiers St.

A darker picture today, with just a few silhouettes in the red light of the pub.  It still catches my eye, particularly after spending time in America, how people here freely spill out of pubs with their drinks in hands, making up for a quite unique London scene.

Dance in the park, finished

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Finished up a largest piece of work ever, measuring 165 cm wide, too late and dark at the moment to get a proper picture up, here’s just a shot of my paint box in relation to the painting to get the idea of its size.

I am leaving for a few weeks  to Belgium and then Ukraine and do not promise I will post regularly, be back in touch in November!
