Flowers of the day

Monday, November 30th, 2009

A quick watercolour of the flower arrangement on my mother-in-law’s table (she is a great entertainer and decorator).

Was very pleased to see that the large painting I’ve been working all last month has been stretched and hung in its new home in the States.  Now figuring out what smaller paintings would accompany it better.

Saw a great deal of Sargent in DC  – two of his life sized portraits and two or three beautiful smaller paintings of his are on display at the National Gallery of Art.

Dance in the park, finished

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Finished up a largest piece of work ever, measuring 165 cm wide, too late and dark at the moment to get a proper picture up, here’s just a shot of my paint box in relation to the painting to get the idea of its size.

I am leaving for a few weeks  to Belgium and then Ukraine and do not promise I will post regularly, be back in touch in November!

A day in Bergamo

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Last day of the vacation I spent hanging out in the old town Bergamo, packed with quaint shops, restaurants and surprisingly good choice of local beers on offer.  Venetian architectural  influence throughout the town offers an unparalleled experience wandering around the narrow streets. The favourite discovery for me there was Palazzo della Ragione on it’s main square. It’s single room exhibit of Canalettos, Moronis and Tallones with  a medieval staircase leading up to it offers a unique museum going experience.  Here’s a view from one of the side streets, via Gombito,  I quickly sketched in the evening before hopping on the  funicular and to the airport to catch the flight to Stansted.

Sunday in the Viki park

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Here is a sketch for that large painting commission (not the portrait one).

Heads up for end of September  -I will be having my paintings at the Broadway Market bookshop – first time on my own territory, meaning within walking distance from home in London and in the same area that I paint so much in my 6×6′.  Tentatively the paintings will hang there for six weeks, staring September 30th.

Cappuccino at Bar Italia

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

It was an exiting day today, have been working on a new large project, more about it later. Meanwhile, three musical instruments appeared in my house today! The damage has done on Tottenham court road, and now I share my living room with a mandolin, a blue ukulele and an orange-shaped shaker – only the latter one is mine to play. I am seriously thinking of starting a band. Here is a watercolor of  some cappuccino that I mused over for some ideas of a name to this new band.
